LIFESTYLE NEWS - Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day or sometimes Poppy Day, is commemorated every year on 11 November.
As, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare during the First World War.
Remembrance Sunday is observed annually on the second Sunday in November, the Sunday nearest to 11 November, which this year just happens to be on the actual 11th of November.
Church services and commemorative events will take place across the world on this day to remember the men and women who gave their lives in combat.
Every year on Remembrance Sunday, a service takes place at the St James Anglican Church in Somerset, Graaff-Reinet.
This year's service will be held on Sunday, 11 November, at 17:00.
