GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The next in the series of Paint for a Purpose evenings, featuring the art of Pablo Picasso, will be held at Polka Café in Somerset Street on Thursday 4 April, from 18:00 to 21:00.
By request, the function has been moved from its original date, which fell in the school holidays.
Picasso is probably the most important artist of 20th century. Before the age of 50, this Spanish-born artist had become the best-known name in modern art, with his most distinctive style and eye for artistic creation.
The insights into his life and style of painting are sure to be fascinating, and those who have already booked for the workshop are very excited to try their hand at a Picasso-style masterpiece.
The first workshop, on Matisse, was sold out and raised just over R3 000.
The profit is all destined for the Narsingstraat Hostel project, which is already making a difference to this important facility. Hoping that a similar amount will be raised at the Picasso evening, organiser Karlien de Wet reported that another R3 000 will allow them to renovate one of the rooms.
The cost for the evening is R220 per person, and this includes all art materials, snacks, and a special signature welcome drink.
There is limited space available, and so booking is essential.
There are still a few places left, and those interested can contact Karlien De Wet on 082 925 2309 or karlien@montego.co.za.
