GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - In line with their ethos to always improve, The Karoo Wine Club is seeing to it that this year’s Stoep Tasting Wine Weekend from 23 to 25 May will be even better than the last.
Not only has a black tie food and wine pairing gala dinner hosted by Glen Carlou Wines been introduced this year, but there will also be extra, unique master classes and experiences.
Most of the master classes will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 on Saturday morning. These include popular repeats from last year and some brand-new workshops.
Sean Stewart from KWV will again be doing his Premium Brandy tasting at the Graaff Reinet Club, where participants can learn about and sample some of the world’s finest brandies.
Guy Webber of Neethlingshof wines will repeat his popular wine blending workshop.
The wine maker of Glenwood Wines, DP Burger, is going to bring a whole new experience presenting a vertical tasting of his Chardonnays. For the Chardonnay lover, he will present a vintage tasting on GlenWood Grand Duc Chardonnay Vintages 2011 to 2016 and include a barrel sample of 2017 and 2018 as well. Glenwood is new to Stoep Tasting; their wines are exceptional, so visitors should make a point to have their stoep at Bourke Street Manor on their to-do-list for this year.
Local Graaff Reinet farmer and producer of Three Agaves Pure Karoo Agave Spirit (Tequila) Tim Murray will also be participating for the first time at Stoep Tasting. He will present a master class on his new passion product, Three Agaves.
From Calitzdorp, Louis van der Riet of De Krans wines will be presenting trendy cocktails and funky drink ideas using their ports at Profcon Resort.
Last but not least, Mike Neebe of Axe Hill Wines is presenting a cigar, port and chocolate pairing. This is the only one taking place on Friday evening after the stoeps have closed, from 21:00 to 22:00 in the cigar lounge of the iconic Drostdy Hotel.
All classes will have a maximum of 20 attendees and must be booked in advance.
