GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Thembalesizwe Primary School in Umasizakhe will be holding a Fun Day this Saturday, 13 April, in the school grounds, and would like to invite members of the community to come and join in the fun.
There will be a wonderful selection of fun activities, including a jumping castle, water slide, face painting and a talent show.
There will also be some competitive games, such as an egg-on-a-spoon race, bucket race and Smarties in flour, which will certainly appeal to the children! Most of these events cost a mere R5, and the gate fee is just R5 for adults and R2 for children.
Especially for the parents and other adults, there will be a car wash service available for R50.
The aim of the event is to raise money for the grade 7 tour to Cape Town in September.
Through the experiences gained during the tour, the learners are exposed to many new ideas and see a different side of life. This also helps some of them in the field of career guidance.
The 81 Grade 7 learners will also be treated to a formal farewell function later in the year at a local venue as a send-off to their high school career.
Thembalesizwe is a no-fee school, situated in a rural community with very high unemployment. It depends on funds received from the Department of Education, which are not sufficient to cover all the necessities for the school to function effectively. The school needs support from all parents, the entire community, and potential donors. This fundraising initiative is a perfect way for members of the community to show their support for the school while enjoying a day out with their families.
The Fun Day starts at 09:00, and will be held at the school, in Khiwane Street, Umasizakhe.
