GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Graaff-Reinet residents were in for a cold one on Saturday morning, with low temperatures of up to -4°.
Only 32 runners, joggers or walkers managed to brave the cold at the Mountain Drive parkrun. Usually, the parkrun sees at least 60 participants.
However, the cold provided the perfect platform for participants to improve their times, which 11 managed to do.
Steven Knowles, a first-timer at this particular parkrun, came in first place with his time of 25:29. According to him, Mountain Drive is one of the most grueling runs he's ever done.
Tenita Nell was first of the women and managed an excellent time of 28:18; a personal best for Nell.
Rob Green completed his 139th different parkrun, with a total of 289 to his name.
Volunteers on the day were Lusan Luscombe, Rozelle Kohne, Peter Burdett, Mike Calitz, Shirley Spencer, Charles Maasdorp, Jacqui Taylor-Freeme, Danie Jackson and Kim Spencer Primic.
