GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Residents of Graaff-Reinet are no strangers to water woes; even the town's four-footed friends are adapting!
Four-month-old kitten Maze already knows how to help himself to a drink, by turning the tap of a small water container.
His human parent, Alletta Swart, couldn't understand why the container always seemed to have a puddle of water beneath it. Then, she discovered that it was Maze, looking for a drink.
"He pushes the small tap with his paw, and drinks the water when it comes out," said Klaas Wentzel, who captured Maze in the act. "It just goes to show how bad the drought is in Graaff-Reinet!"
Alletta is now trying to teach Maze the importance of saving water, as he hasn't quite got the knack of closing the tap after his thirst has been quenched.
