GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Members of the Graaff-Reinet Residents and Ratepayers Association (GRRPA) are shocked and dismayed about the extent at which the sewage spill at the Kroonvale pump station has deteriorated.
They are particularly concerned about the environmental degradation due to the vast volumes of untreated sewage being discharged into the Sundays River.
Another huge concern is the health hazard posed to Kroonvale residents who have to pass the pump when they use the footpath over the river.
According to the GRRPA they previously reported the matter and have been monitoring it since.
They now demand immediate action from the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality to rectify this unacceptable situation. The Graaff-Reinet Advertiser is awaiting a response from the municipality.
