KAROO NEWS - Thirteen "precarious" workers from Graaff-Reinet, Steytlerville and Willowmore participated in the annual Precarious Workers Platform hosted by the Support Centre for Land Change (SCLC) in Mossel Bay.
"The annual platform is a very important learning, networking and reflection event," said the Director of SCLC, Patrick Sambo.
"Workers are able to learn from one another because they all struggle with the same issues under more or less similar conditions. It is also important for workers to understand the context of their challenges in relation to the bigger picture of government and international policies."
The event brought together vulnerable workers from the Garden Route, Central Karoo and Sarah Baartman districts, as well as NGOs, movements and support organisations from Gauteng and Cape Town.
