GRAAFF-REINET NEWS – A handicapped man received a new lease on life, thanks to a group of local volunteers who built a wheelchair-accessible ramp at his house.
The ramp was built piece-by-piece for free by Ward 5's Community Work Programme (CWP) employees.
After scouting the neighbourhood from door to door for families in their community in need of help, the CWP workers happened upon a 21-year-old resident of Merino Street, Kroonvale, who has been paralyzed since birth and confined to a wheelchair for most of his life.
After a generous donation of materials was gifted by Montego Pet Nutrition, the CWP workers set about turning the raw materials into something this local man will use every day.
In just a couple of days the task at hand was completed – the sturdy wheelchair ramp now allows the recipient thereof to move in and out of his home with ease making his life just a little bit easier.
