WILLOWMORE NEWS - Willowmore Provincial Hospital has been closed after a health worker tested positive for Covid-19. The woman is part of a team brought in by the Department of Health to assist at the Willowmore roadblock, and is not a local resident. Siyanda Manana, spokesperson for the Department, confirmed that the patient is 32 years old.
All her contacts were immediately tested and the hospital will also be thoroughly disinfected.
“At this stage the department locally is on top of the situation, the clinic will be open 24 hours a day for emergencies, and I have been assured by the head of the clinic that they are ready to deal with hospital services during the time that the hospital is closed,” said local councillor Ewald Loock. He added that it is not clear if the infection was contracted whilst working at the roadblock, or if the worker was already infected when she came to Willowmore.
The worker was tested as a matter of routine after working on the roadblock, and is currently in self-isolation.
