MIDDELBURG NEWS - The paving of the Midros Access Road (Rivierweg) in Middelburg is 90% completed. The announcement was made by the mayor of the Inxuba Yethemba Municipality, Noncedo Zonke, who said that the project was funded by a Municipal Infrastructure Grant.
The paving, which is 7m wide, currently covers a distance of 1,7km. "On 29 February the beneficiaries of the grant included 13 local SMMEs with 25 local labourers from Middelburg and Midros, which contributed towards skills development," Zonke stated.
The project has a crucial role in both wards 7 and 8 (Middelburg, Midros and Rosmead) as it provides greater access for residents to public facilities such as schools and clinics, sports facilities and ward-based economic activities, and is also used as the major taxi route in the area.
