GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - In the fight against the drought in Graaff-Reinet and surrounding areas, the Water Warriors took to the streets, armed with 3 960 five-litre containers filled with water.
The local Water Warriors are part of the SA Water Warriors Non-Profit Organisation.
Under the leadership of Shawn West, and with the help of MP Samantha Graham-Maré, they visited several schools and hostels on Saturday 5 October to deliver water.
Beneficiaries included Elyakim Children's Home, Narsingstraat School hostel, Midland Hospital, Vuyani Safe Haven, Spandau Secondary hostel, Margery Parkes Tuberculosis Hospital, Karoo Taxidermy, SPCA, as well as three old age homes.
Graham-Maré said there is still water left, but it will be delivered to the day hospital and people in need on Saturday 12 October.
She congratulated Water Warriors for their selfless service to the community.
Graham- Maré encouraged the community to assist each other during the drought-ravaged period.
