GRAAFF-REINET BOWLS NEWS - The final of the Midlands mixed pairs bowling competition was a bit of a ding dong battle with both pairs taking the lead at various times.
But it was cool heads and a slightly better consistency that paved the way for Wally Koetaan and Riana du Toit to walk away with the title at the Graaff-Reinet Bowling Club on Sunday.
But it could easily have gone the way of the runners-up, Eric and Helen Louw from Middelburg.
The mixed pairs was played over two days with 18 teams from almost all the Midlands clubs taking part. The teams were divided into four sections, with five teams each in section A and C and four teams in section B and D.
In the semi-finals the winners of section A, Helen and Eric Louw (both Middelburg), played against Tienie Prinsloo (Cradock) and Alida Swiegers (Middelburg), winners of section B.
