GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Three artists, Fawa Conradie – curator of the Imibala Galleries – and locals Janet Kingwill and Curt Martheze will be holding an Urban Sketching Workshop during the Stoep Tasting weekend.
Fawa Conradie has exhibited extensively and in another life owned a special effects and animation company. He started the Stellenbosch Urban Sketchers group and is passionate about urban sketching. He has also completed four artist residencies in Paris.
Janet Kingwill known for her exhibition of 365 days will 'painting the town red in red wine'. She has already produced a number of sketches using just wine and bicarb of soda. Come and see her collection of A4 mounted originals and cards which will be available to buy.
Curt Martheze finds himself at home using watercolours but believes in 'a good drawing foundation'. He says he loves to draw and like Janet does this daily. Curt originally sold his work out of galleries in Cape Town but now is based in Aberdeen.
The Workshop will take place “plein air” style in Parsonage Street between 10:00 and 12:00 on Saturday, 25 May. Parsonage street will be closed off to car traffic and there will be food on sale by the Parsonage Street Home.
