Unrest in Mandela Park over food parcels

GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Around 200 residents of Mandela Park in Kroonvale, Graaff-Reinet, are restless over alleged irregularities in the distribution of food parcels.

Councillor Glenda Mackelina said the uprising started last night (20 April). The residents began to move about 200 meters from Mackelina's home.

Police and several national army members are on the scene. Police officers are consulting with Mackelina about the origin of the protest and who would be responsible for handing out the expected food parcels.

Mackelina says she has no knowledge of where the promises of food parcels originated.
