ABERDEEN NEWS - Two more teachers at Luxolo Intermediate School in Thembalesizwe, Aberdeen, have been confirmed positive for Coronavirus, as well as one Grade Seven learner.
All staff members were tested on 15 June when one male teacher was found to have contracted the virus, and the learners were screened.
According to principal Jan Mathiale, the teachers’ results have come back in dribs and drabs, and at first they were told that everyone was negative, then that was corrected to one being positive, and now, two female teachers are positive, and some have still not received their results.
In consultation with the parents, the SGB made the decision to keep the school closed, and pressure was put on the health department to test all the Grade Seven learners who have been at school.
This has been done, the teachers who had not yet received their results have been retested, and the school will remain closed at least until those results have been received.
