GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Graaff-Reinet Bird Club outing: 7 September
Members will visit Kendrew Estates, the farm of Garth and Linda Charles. The trip involves an early start, meeting at 6.30am in Bourke Street outside Elsona, and will conclude with a bring-and-braai on the farm. Anyone interested in joining can contact Cas Labuschagne at 049 891 0130.
Deaf Awareness Walk: 7 September
Local NPO Maya Deaf Foundation will have their first Deaf Awareness Walk in association with the Mountain Drive parkrun at 8am. Registered runner's times will still be kept. Other walker do not need to register with parkrun to participate. Participants are encouraged to wear something red or blue for the 5km event, and ear plugs will be sold at R10 to raise awareness for hearing loss. Entrance is free and a donation box will be available.
Graaff-Reinet Community Market: 7 September
Due to rain, this festive market at Angel Park was cancelled last weekend. Don't miss it this Saturday, from 10am until 3pm.
New stalls will include the Graaff-Reinet Hospice, who will sell second-hand books and bric-a-brac.
Vuyani Safe Haven AGM: 12 September
Vuyani Safe Haven invites the community to attend their Annual General Meeting at the Vuyani Learning Centre at the Botanical Sport field at 3pm.
The usual items on the AGM agenda will be discussed, and work of two remedial teachers with Vuyani's children who have learning disabilities will be showcased.
The speaker at this day will be Christine Scott.
She is a qualified Integrated Learning Therapy Practitioner and will explain how children with neurodevelopmental problems can be helped by using slow specific movements to create neural networks in the brain.
