KAROO NEWS - The community of Hillside near Nxuba (formerly Cradock) has their very own angel in their midst, Ziphozihle Smith (32), whose name quite aptly means 'a beautiful gift'.
"She is a warm and generous soul, and she is a a gift to all of us who know her, " says Bettie Lawens, who told the Advertiser about Smith.
The Advertiser caught up with Smith to find out what drives her. "I am a single mother with three boys. I developed a heart for assisting people when the community carried me through my bereavement when my husband died in 2022. We saw the desperate need of people and addressed it out of our own pockets. Currently I am involved with food distribution and a soup kitchen. We also hand out clothes.
"I will continue to work for my community, in my community, as this is where my heart finds happiness."
Ziphozihle was born in Kariega, then Uitenhage, and grew up in Cradock. She completed gr. 12 at Gamble Street High School in Kariega.
