GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - According to SAPS provincial spokesperson, warrant-officer Majola Nkohli, a 16-year-old boy was arrested for the murder of 16-year-old Ronnie Kraai at 166 Mandela Park on the evening of Sunday, 25 December.
Nkohli said that local police were summoned to the residence of the deceased and upon arrival they discovered the lifeless body of the young boy. The deceased had sustained a wound to the upper body.
“A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and the suspect is due to appear in court soon on a charge of murder," said Nkohli.
After the incident The Advertiser spoke to the brother of the deceased, Cornelius Breytenbach, and learned that he was not at home when the stabbing occurred.
Cornelius was only informed later that his brother had been stabbed and was lying opposite their house. On arrival he found that his brother had already died.
Councillor Sakkie Van Zyl was shocked by the senseless murder of the young boy and expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
