COOKHOUSE NEWS - Two men were arrested on Friday 15 January at 21:35 in connection with stolen chocolate cattle feed in the Cookhouse area.
Police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson said Cookhouse Crime Prevention and members of the Community Service Centre arrested the men aged 23 and 25 for housebreaking and theft and possession of the feed after receiving a tip-off about a suspicious looking white bakkie on a farm road in the Cookhouse farming community.
The members located the vehicle and found four bags of chocolate feed for dairy cows worth R8 000 on the back of the bakkie.
The two occupants of the bakkie are set to appear in the Somerset East Magistrate’s Court soon.
Chocolate for cows
According to agricsite.com, cows can eat chocolate so as to produce superior quality milk. Cows with a dietary plan inclusive of chocolate tend to produce high quality milk.
The compounds found in chocolate play an important role in improving the content of butterfat in milk.
