COOKHOUSE NEWS – A 35-year-old man, Bulelani Silinga, was convicted and sentenced to eight years imprisonment for dealing in drugs. Sentence was handed down in the Cookhouse Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 11 May.
On Monday 23 September 2019 at 23:45 the accused approached a marked crime prevention vehicle while the vehicle was refueling and requested transportation to Bedford to attend a court case. The policemen suspected that the accused had ulterior motives after realizing that the court date was a public holiday.
The accused was searched and 400 mandrax tablets were found in his possession.
The accused was immediately arrested and detained on dealing in drugs with an estimated street value of R32 000.
The accused made his first Court appearance on 25 September 2019 and remained in custody for the whole duration of the investigation.
Cookhouse Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Ferreira, commended Detective Warrant Officer Zingisile Jozana for the conviction.
