NOUPOORT NEWS - Volunteers of Noupoort Animal Care pulled off a very successful three day spayathon last week, during which 90 animals were sterilised.
A great deal of time and effort goes into such an endeavour before, during and after the event. Courtney Stassen and her team worked tirelessly to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
The event was sponsored by Camdeboo Sterilisation Initiative (CSI) in Graaff-Reinet, and CSI founder Erma Voigt would like to thank all of those who regularly support the initiative with donations to make this work possible in underprivileged areas.
Dr Des Stafford from Avatar Veterinary Clinic in Sandton, Gauteng, together with his two assistants, Suzie Cato and Michael Mabena, toiled away for many long hours on each of the three days. Not only did the team perform sterilisations, but they also assisted with many emergencies and other procedures during their stay.

Cancerous tumours were removed, cases of pyometra and ehrlichia were seen, and a dog that was injured when trying to crawl under a palisade fence was treated.
A total of 23 female and eight male cats were sterilised, as well as 59 dogs, of which 47 were female.
"We are so grateful that we have saved so many babies from being born into lives of misery," said CSI’s Erma Voigt.
For anyone wishing to support CSI, donations may be made to the following account at Capitec Bank: account name CSI; account no. 1337952417, branch code 470010. All donations go towards sterilisation of dogs and cats in impoverished local areas.
