ABERDEEN NEWS - At the corner of Stockenstroom Street and Andries Pretorius Street (the main road through Aberdeen), there is a sewerage manhole which has been overflowing for over a week.
Raw sewage can be seen in the water, which is flowing along the main road, past a coffee shop and houses, as far as Aberdeen Self Catering, where it drains into a storm water catch pit. From here it flows into the Kraai River. The manhole cover can be seen in a pool of water, almost hidden in the shrubs.
The whole pool of water appears to be sewage water.
Residents in the area are justifiably very angry about this and are concerned about the health hazard it poses. It was reported to the local municipal offices last week, but to date, no action has been taken.
No response has been received from the municipality to a query sent by the Advertiser.
