KAROO NEWS - Last Thursday the DBNLM released a notice, warning residents not to fall victim to a scammer pretending to be a municipal official offering to reduce arrears on municipal bills through EFT payments.
Vuyisa Jantjies, spokesperson for the DBNLM says the scammer goes by the name Collin Reddy and calls from the number 082 268 4411.
Apparently, DBNLM has received numerous calls from residents concerned about the fraudulent attempts from this scammer.
DBNLM stresses that payments should only be made to the municipality bank account or at the financial cashier in the municipality building.
The municipality says that they strongly condemns such illegal acts of fraud, and any perpetrators found will be met with the full might of the law. For inquiries, Jantjies can be reached on 072 982 4081
