GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Sanlam and the Motsepe family, in partnership with companies and organisations, have pledged R1-billion to assist in the fight against Covid-19 across Africa. Eleven Graaff-Reinet schools recently benefitted from this objective, as recipients of sanitiser and pedal dispensers.
Local Sanlam Financial Adviser, Linda Knott-Craig, worked hand in hand with Sanlam to reach out to the schools. A few of the beneficiaries were Narsingstraat Primêr, Lingcom Primary, Spandau Secondary, Isibana Primary and Adendorp Primary School.
"We hope that our contribution will help in mitigating the spread of the virus and the flattening of the curve," Sanlam said in a statement. "We would like to see the learners complete their academic year successfully within a safe environment."
Sanlam encouraged learners and teachers to remain focused on taking the necessary precautions against Covid-19. "Wear a mask, keep a safe distance and wash your hands continually."
The financial service group concluded with a quote by President Cyril Ramaphosa: "As we settle into a new normal and learn to live alongside the virus, we must continue to exercise every possible precaution to avoid infecting others.
"This is how we are going to keep ourselves safe and keep our economy open".
