GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Upset Graaff-Reinet residents dumped their refuse at the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality’s doorstep on Thursday evening, after the municipality failed to collect refuse in the town this week.
The municipality said in a statement this morning (Friday), that they viewed the action by residents as illegal.
“This will cause further delays in the collection of refuse, which we are in the process of collecting,” the municipality said.
They claimed that the backlog was due to “fleet challenges”, but did not specify what these challenges were.
The municipality said in a statement on Thursday that trucks were serving areas in Graaff-Reinet, but uncollected refuse was still seen in town on Friday morning.
