GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day or sometimes Poppy Day, is commemorated every year on November 11.
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare during the First World War.
Remembrance Sunday is the second Sunday in November, the Sunday nearest to November 11 (November 12 in 2017).

Every year on Remembrance Sunday, a service takes place at the St James Anglican Church in Somerset, Graaff-Reinet.
