GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Handmade products, produced by the Graaff-Reinet Protective Workplace, trading as Boundless, can now be purchased from their new shop on the corner of Somerset and Bourke Streets, located within the Karoo Community Church.
Creativity and quality seem to be key to everything they make.
One look at the precision with which their laser products are designed and assembled, you realise that dedication and passion played a big role in manufacturing the vast range of products they offer. Customised key rings, 3D model toys, wooden household items, place mats, Graaff-Reinet memorabilia and Christmas decorations, all form part of this elaborate display of workmanship.
The needlework produced by the workshop is inspiring. A large variety of neatly stitched aprons, pillow covers, oven mittens and table cloths, are available in vibrant Shweshwe colours. The Protective Workshop’s Woodwork department also offers services such as restoring furniture and the manufacturing of small to medium products.
By supporting Protective Workplace's new shop, you are helping them serve 39 adults with disabilities.
The shop will be open from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 till 17:00 and Saturdays, from 09:00 till 13:00. The telephone number is 049-892 4563.
The Protective Workplace is a non-profit organisation and provides an opportunity for people with physical, psychological or mental disabilities, who are unable to compete in the open labour market, to work and learn. The quality of life, self-image and value systems of those living with disabilities are improved due to the fact that they are cared for physically and psychologically and are taught life and income generating skills.
