GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The SAPS in Graaff Reinet recorded a number of successes for the past week.
Two arrests were made for assault, four for robbery, and one for housebreaking. Two people were arrested for malicious damage to property, five for stock theft and another for general theft. A further three were caught in possession of dagga, one for Mandrax, and nine for being drunk and disorderly.
Four fines were also issued.
Dagga, tik, Mandrax in both tablet and powder form were confiscated. In general confiscations, there has been an assortment of goods including shoes, a camera, cell phones & accessories, a firearm, as well as a magazine and ammunition, computers and laptop computers, knives, and livestock.
The Cluster Commander, Brigadier Rudolph Adolph, said that the SAPS in the Graaff-Reinet Cluster is determined to put the vision of the SAPS of "Turning the creation of a safe and secure environment into a crime-free conducive climate for economic and social stability in support of a better life for all" into action.
"We are squeezing the space for criminals and we will ensure that whoever finds himself or herself on the wrong side of the law will be brought to book," said the Brigadier.
The Cluster Commander commended the members of the SAPS for their hard work and dedication but warn that a lot still needs to be done to clean our society of drugs, which is our main generator of social fabricated and property crimes.
Drug dealers are warned that their days are numbered.
