RICHMOND NEWS - Northern Cape police have opened an inquest docket after three bodies were retrieved from a river near Richmond.
Police spokesperson, Lt. Colonel Dimakatso Mooi, told the Advertiser that a bakkie with six people allegedly overturned while trying to cross a bridge during heavy rain on Saturday, 19 January.
Three bodies have already been retrieved, while police are still search for two passenger. The driver managed to swim out of the river.
According to Mooi, details of the deceased are not yet available as the search and rescue operation is still underway.
