GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - During the ASA (Athletics South Africa) Youth and Junior Championships from 23 to 25 March in Pietermaritzburg, Alwayno Jacobs of Spandau Secondary School in Graaff-Reinet, competed against 22 athletes in the 3 000m steeplechase event for men under 20.
Jacobs finished 8th in a time of 9:54.99, 34 seconds faster than his previous best and an ASA qualifying standard.
His effort placed him 38 seconds behind the winner.
Sport convener, Adam Mafeking and Spandau Secondary School are very proud of Jacobs' achievement.
