GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Mountain Drive parkrun in Graaff-Reinet was a sea of pink on Saturday, as 117 runners donned the colour in support of the local cancer association.
John Kollen competed in his 318th parkun on the day. He has participated in 199 different parkruns across South Africa, and three parkruns internationally.
It was also a special day for 23 other runners, who managed new personal bests, despite the sweltering heat.
One such a runner was Flippie Loock, who also managed to come first of the men with 21:05. Corniel Corster was second (24:23) and Elliston Lamont third (24:44).
Inge van Rooyen was the first woman to cross the finish line, with 27:16, Micela Loock was second (30:36), with Jenna McNaughton short on her trail (30:37).
Volunteers on the day included Lusan Luscombe, Peter Burdette, Mike Calitz, Shirley Spencer, Charles Maasdorp, Johan du Plessis, Tammy du Plessis, Kim Spencer Primic and two rangers from SANParks.
