KAROO NEWS - The tabling of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality’s (SBDM) budget and integrated development plan (IDP) and budget on 5 June, was approved by the council.
No further comments will be accepted on the issues as tabled.
The Executive Mayor of SBDM, Eunice Kekana, tabled the R164,2-million operating budget for the 2020/2021 financial year on 5 June. An extra R5,1-million capital budget was tabled.
Natasha Peterson, communication officer for the SBDM, said the municipality is dedicated to being a transparent and accountable institution.
Petersen explained that the IDP review and budget adoption took place on 5 June during a virtual council meeting. “Due to the national lockdown, which was instated from 26 March, the municipality published its draft IDP on the municipal website, social media pages and also distributed it via WhatsApp and e-mail to all local municipalities and stakeholders,” Peterson explained.
She said it should be noted that each local municipality will embark on its own IDP and budget review processes.
