GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Methodist Church welcomed Reverend Xolisile Julius Gedezana in a ceremony held at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Memorial Church in Masizakhe, where he officially assumed the role of superintendent in the Karoo East Circuit.
Bishop Louis Williams conducted a heartfelt induction ceremony, and Albert Majoka, the district steward, introduced Gedezana and his family to the congregation before the induction.
Gedezana expressed his unwavering commitment to effect a revival in the church, pledging to uplift broken souls with the guidance of the Lord.
Bishop Williams, in his sermon, echoed the Methodist Church of Southern Africa's vision for the year, emphasising themes of awakening, prophetic urgency, and the right agency for reviving the church of Christ.
With over twenty years of ministry experience, Gedezana shared his extensive service in various circuits, including Kunana, John Wesley College, Namibia South, Bloemfontein Circuit, Ayliff Circuit and Garden Route Circuit.
Outlining his vision to revive the church, Gedezana posed three strategic questions: understanding the current state of the church, identifying community members, and recognising their diverse backgrounds.
He underscored the importance of prayer, active listening, adopting a prophetic voice in the community, and actively participating in community development.
Calling for unity and shared responsibility, Gedezana's mission is to revitalise both the church and the communities it serves.
