GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — In August, South African National Parks (SANParks) appointed a new park manager to take charge of the Camdeboo National Park.
Mzwandile Mjadu commenced his duties as park manager for this picturesque park with fervor and is eager to make his mark by positioning the park as a top destination.
Mjadu, who is originally from Somerset East, comes highly recommended and boasts a vast degree of experience in his field of work.
His career began in the early 90s at the Addo Elephant National Park where he served as assistant rest camp manager. He was quickly promoted to the park's People and Conservation Officer where he worked with the park's adjacent communities. This position was also short-lived as he was then promoted to the position of Transformation Officer for 13 of the country's national parks.
He then left SANParks to join local government where he served as ward councillor.
After five years in developmental local government, Mzwandile re-joined SANParks as a park manager. His career as park manager spans a period of 11 years to date.
Mjadu says that he is very grateful for the warm welcome he has received since his arrival at the Camdeboo National Park.
"The community and the SANParks staff alike have truly given me a warm welcome, ensuring me of their unwavering support," stated Mjadu.
Mjadu hopes to encourage the community to develop a sense of pride and possessiveness with regards to the park, he, therefore, invites all residents of Graaff-Reinet and other communities of the region to visit the park at no cost during SA National Parks Week.
"Let's all grab this opportunity to explore the beauty that is the Camdeboo National Park," concluded Mjadu.
