GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Parsonage Street Home, a home for the elderly in Graaff-Reinet, recently launched their newly completed garden deck to host functions and serve as a safe space for residents to enjoy the outdoors.
The launch was also an opportunity to celebrate the special birthdays of residents Issie Theron and Joey van Wyk who recently turned 100 years old, and Koeks Marais who will be turning 100 in the following month.
Sadly, it also ended up being a farewell for one of the residents, Koekoes Bezuidenhout, who passed away earlier that morning.
During the opening of the launch, the chairperson of the board responsible for governing the Parsonage Street Home expressed his gratitude towards everyone who contributed to the establishment in various ways over the years, highlighting that their support has made a notable difference.
He explained that the establishment does not belong to anyone in particular but the community, and for this reason he encouraged everyone to get more involved.
The chairperson also thanked those responsible for the day-to-day running of the establishment, those who take care of administration and maintenance, and the fantastic team of carers.
"Those who work and live here are our biggest assets," he emphasised.
