GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The death of a well-known Graaff-Reinet resident, Leolynn Smith in a car crash on the N9 yesterday afternoon, 13 February, has sent shock waves through the community.
Smith (33), who was the municipal spokesperson of the Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality, died when her red GWM sedan collided with an oncoming vehicle just 10km outside of town.
The driver of the other vehicle was admitted to hospital with a broken arm.
Mayor Deon de Vos was in another vehicle travelling behind Smith as they were on their way to a mayoral outreach programme in Willowmore when the accident occurred.
Smith also used to work at the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, and her former colleagues will always remember her bubbly personality and love of life.
