GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A public meeting will be held this evening, Wednesday, 20 March, at 17:30 at the Te Water Hall in Bourke Street, Graaff-Reinet.
At the meeting, Vicky Knoetze (MPL), the DA Eastern Cape Shadow MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, will be introducing the DA’s new candidate for the Ward 2 councillor position vacated by Linda Botha, Ricardo Smith.
In addition, Knoetze will be talking about the plastic road initiative she is piloting within the Kouga Municipality – a first for Africa.
By-election scheduled
A by-election is scheduled for April 10 in Ward 2, after Councilor Linda Botha, councillor for Ward 2, resigned.
The ward includes the Horsheshoe area of Graaff-Reinet, as well as the village of Nieu-Bethesda.
Voters in these areas are advised to ensure that their names appear correctly on the Ward 2 voters roll.
Newcomers to Graaff-Reinet can visit the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) offices in Graaff-Reinet at 50 Bourke Street, office number 5, to register in the district.
At the meeting, the DA’s Constituency Leader, Vicky Knoetze, MPL – the Shadow MEC for local government - will be talking about the plastic road initiative she is piloting within the Kouga Municipality.
