GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The mass prayer meeting, organised by Bruce Kock, that took place at the Full Gospel Church in Koebergville recently was a great success, and Kock hopes to organise a follow-up gathering in March.
People attended from Umasizakhe, Asherville, Santaville and Kroonvale, including two councillors, and all participated with great enthusiasm. Minister Gavin Kemp led the proceedings.
The main focus was to pray for unity in the community, and for the problems associated with violence, particularly against women and children.
Another project that Kock is keen to get off the ground is a clean-up of some of the worst areas. He would appreciate donations of black bags and equipment such as rakes and shovels to be used by the volunteers.
"I know that this is actually the municipality's responsibility," he said, "but we would like to get members of the community involved, and restore pride in the town".
He anticipates that there will also be a need to get the rubbish collected once it has been cleared, referring to the problem where the CWP workers clear up areas but then the rubbish is just left on the road, and often the municipal graders come along and just push it all to the side.
Anyone who would like to get involved in the project can contact Kock on 062 218 3114.
