GRAAFF-REINET NUUS - Wayne Meintjies (28), the accused in the murder of Karin Marais, will appear before the regional court in Graaff-Reinet on Monday 5 June.
Marais died on 8 July 2021 after sustaining stab wounds during a fatal encounter with a burglar in her house in Somerset Street, Graaff-Reinet.

Meintjies was arrested on 11 July 2021 and appeared before the Graaff-Reinet magistrates court for the first time on 12 July 2021.
Graaff-Reinet Court Manager Rene Viljoen confirmed that the case has since been transferred to the regional court where the accused appeared on 22 April last year. It was also confirmed that the accused has still not pleaded and remained in custody since his arrest.
