GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A selection of lovingly handcrafted blankets were recently handed over to the Graaff-Reinet SPCA by Jackie Bezuidenhout, proprietor of Loop Wool.
Jackie, who has always been passionate about animals, wanted to do something to benefit the dogs at the SPCA. Last October she decided to donate wool, and advertised for volunteers to knit or crochet blankets. From the many offers of help, about seven ladies became fully involved in the project, many of them also donating some of their own wool.
On Tuesday 30 April Jackie presented 30 beautiful warm and colourful creations to SPCA Inspector Hillary Chaplin, who was thrilled that all the kennels will now have blankets.
As Graaff-Reinet residents will know, the SPCA has been battling recently, both financially and to get committed members to support the organisation. Hillary’s obvious delight during a tough time was in itself thanks enough for Jackie and her team of ladies!
Hillary and Jackie would like to thank all the ladies who knitted or crocheted these blankets, for sharing their time and skills for the benefit of the animals.
