Locals enjoy wine and nibbles

GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — This past Friday, Graaff-Reinetters of all ages enjoyed an evening of wine tasting, snacking and good company at the Drostdy Hotel’s De Camdeboo Wijnkamer.

Enthusiastically hosted by Tiaan Burger, the evening showcased some of the best wines currently on offer from the Welbedacht Wine Estate.

The Welbedacht Wine Estate is situated just outside Wellington and is home to one of South Africa's most famous sporting families, Schalk Burger & Sons.

Throughout the evening, a range of wines individual in style and portraying an exciting uniqueness were skilfully paired with a variety of cheeses.

While many of the tipplers enjoyed swopping rugby stories with Tiaan, the son of former Springbok lock Schalk Snr and brother to Schalk Jnr, the South Africa flanker, everyone's attention was eventually drawn back to the wine glass in their hands and its superb contents.
