KAROO NEWS - Crime reports show that women suffered abuse in the last week, with three cases of assault against women, and one case of attempted rape.
Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
• A woman was stabbed in her head and face, by her boyfriend, with a garden fork, after the two had an argument in Santaville on 20 June. The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. The boyfriend was arrested.
• On 16 June, a woman was walking in Santaville when approached by a suspect who wanted her to accompany him to his residence. When she refused, the suspect took a beer bottle, emptied it and hit her in the face with the bottle.
• On 20 June at 11am, a woman complained that her foster care child was beaten with a thorn stick near the graveyard on Bree Street, Santaville. The child sustained injuries.
Attempted rape
On 13 June at 10.45pm, a woman was walking home on Zuma Avenue, Aberdeen. A man waited for her down the road and wanted to accompany her home. He forcefully dragged her down the street, but he ran away when bystanders approached the scene.The 28-year-old suspect was arrested.
