GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — Five learners of Spandau Secondary School recently attended an HIV/AIDS Youth conference hosted by NMMU and the Department of Education.
The gala evening event was hosted in Port Elizabeth during the course of the 4-day long conference.
The learners from Spandau are all Grade 10 and 11 learners who are part of the schools LRC and were selected to attend the conference by the school's learner support agent Miss T Grootboom. These learners represent the Sarah Baartman District along with learners from three other schools in the district.
HIV coordinator at a district level, Tessa Juries, extended the invite to the learners who were accompanied by teacher, Rose Koeberg.
Koeberg described the theme as incredibly appropriate, the theme being ‘Working towards an HIV/AIDS free generation, which begins with the youth who are the future of tomorrow and agents of change.’
