KAROO NEWS - A report back of crime in the last week:
Graaff Reinet
Burglary
- A kitchen door was forced open at Nandi Village on 10 October. Groceries to the value of R 1200 were stolen.
- Between 12 and 13 October at a residence on Donkin Street, one window was broken and entrance gained. A computer hard drive and memory stick were stolen.
- Alcohol was stolen from a business in Market Square on 13 October. The entrance was gained by removing the burglar bar.
- At Eliteview, Umasizakhe, between 9 and 10 October, the gate of a business was forced opened and groceries worth R3 800 were stolen.
- A laptop and cellphone were stolen from a residence on 12 October. The security door was forced open.
- At a residence on Stockenstroom Street on 14 October, several cameras and computer accessories worth R42 000 were stolen. Entrance was gained by removing a window.
- Between 20 and 21 October suspects entered a residence at Seventh Avenue, Umasizahke, by damaging the gate. They removed a television and sound system.
- Between 19 and 20 October, the suspect gained entrance to an Asherville residence and stole seven watches.
- On 21 October, a shop owner found there was broken into his shop at Umasizakhe. The suspects damaged the wall of the business, entered through the hole and stole cigarettes.
Theft from a vehicle
- A battery was stolen between 7 and 8 October, from a car parked at a residence on Willie Deysel Street.
- A vehicle was parked at a residence on Krom Street on 22 October, when a battery was stolen.
Assault with grievous bodily harm
- The complainant alleged that on 30 October he went to an Umasizakhe residence, when people there got violent and stabbed him in the hand.
Stock theft
- 109 Merino sheep and 16 Boer Goats were stolen from Heuningkrans farm, between 14 and 16 October.
Aberdeen
Robbery
- Two men entered a residence in Grey Street on 5 October , and used a knife to rob a resident of a cellphone and cigarettes.
