GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A learner from Union High School, Ben Lemke, took gold in the boys u.17 event at the fifth Biathlon League event held in Gqeberha last weekend.
The day kicked off with an 800m sprint, where Lemke lined up alongside nine other athletes.
He claimed a second place, clocking in at a personal best time of 2:16.01, narrowly missing out on first place which was 2:15.71.
His next item was the 100m freestyle swim, which took place in the Newton Park Swimming Pool. Lemke swam over the finish line in a time of 1:05.64, finishing just behind the leading time of 1:02.56.
When the final scores were tallied, a total of 2043,78 points saw Ben emerge as the overall champion .
