GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Kevin Koeberg has been appointed the new principal at Thembalesizwe Primary School.
Chair of the school governing body (SGB) Mbulelo Ndaba, and education development officer (EDO) of the Department of Education in the Sarah Baartman District Nomandla Singeni, introduced Koeberg to the learners and staff of the school last week.
Grade 5 learner Asisipho Apollis welcomed him and said they are pleased to have him as their teacher and their “father”.
When the EDO asked her what she wants to become one day, Asisipho said she wants to be a judge.
Koeberg said he is delighted to start the new journey and to be in front of the children as their teacher. "I'm here to mould you. I am here to assist learners like Asisipho to become a judge, so together with the teachers, my colleagues, we will just strive to do our utmost best to take you there," he said.
Asisispho set a high bar with her dreams and this touched Koeberg, who said that one of his principles is to "aim high" as the school's motto says. "Everything is possible and what we will strive to do here is to aim high, invite everyone to be part of this drive to aim high. Simply saying 'aim high' is not enough. We need to do something about it. That's our vision."
