MIDDELBURG NEWS - "The simple act of caring is heroic" - a quote by Edward Albert - comes to mind while observing the gathering of people during Huis Karee’s annual fundraiser.
There was great excitement as the community gathered at The Office Bar on 12 March for an entire day filled with great food and fun as well as entertainment for the children.
Some of the local Grootfontein students gathered voluntarily to set up a carwash. The proceeds go to Huis Karee.
The evening held its own excitement as the community gathered in droves for the potjiekos and live entertainment. Families and local businesses donated ingredients for the mouth-watering potjiekos.
The singing duo Karla and Kobus also did not disappoint the audience.
"The fundraiser had a successful outcome in terms of financial contributions and attendance by the local community," stated Irene van der Walt, Manager of Huis Karee.
Huis Karee provides 24-hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in a spacious and safe environment.
There is an urgent need for additional financial support as it is crucial for assisted living and to provide senior citizens with a better quality of life and medical care.
