ADENDORP NEWS - Illegal dumping has been a continued issue in Graaff-Reinet, and it seems the issue is now also in Adendorp.
"It has been going on for a few weeks but has escalated recently," a resident told the Advertiser.
According to her, dumping takes place in the ditch along Berrange Road, and the corner of Ziervogel Street that borders the Sunday's river bed. Dumping also occurs in the veld and along other roads and paths in the town.
"It is very sad and disheartening," the local added. "We moved here to get closer to nature but there is always someone insisting on ruining what is left of the natural environment."
A visit to Adendorp by the Advertiser on Monday confirmed strewn litter, including plastic bags and broken glass, across the town.
The Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality was approached for comment but did not reply in time for print.
