GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The suspects accused of a string of robberies in Graaff-Reinet last year, will appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate's Court again on Tuesday 7 April.
On 12 November last year, State Prosecutor Drian Bakkes described them as high-risk detainees.
"The suspects are such a high risk that they cannot even consider keeping them in Graaff-Reinet Correctional Services for one night," Bakkes said.
Five men are investigated for the robberies at Tiki's Liquor Store on 5 November, when they robbed an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone. The day before they allegedly robbed an employee of Botha's Garage at gunpoint of R25 000, while the employee was underway to deposit the money.
Another man is investigated as one of the drivers of a getaway car, with a female suspect arrested as an alleged informant to the robbers. She was an employee at one of the targeted places.
A tactical team of police members arrested them on Panorama Hill the same day that Tiki's Liquor Store was robbed. The suspects were found with five handguns, a pump-action gun, two vehicles, as well as a substantial amount of money in their possession.
They are being detained at St Albans Correctional Services, Port Elizabeth, with one man and the woman kept in jail separately at an unknown prison.
